Certain weapon mods are also highly recommended, and others should be used with caution. Fire and electricity mods are great at killing zombies but players should exercise caution when using these mods since the electrified zombies and zombies that are on fire can hurt the player. Toxic mods are highly recommended, especially with bladed weapons such as machetes and hatchets. They don't have the risk of hurting the player but they can still immobilize and damage zombies. One deadly combination of mods that can be used to take down zombies is a toxic weapon followed by a fire weapon. If the player can get the zombie immobilized with the toxic weapon, then set it on fire with the fire weapon, it will kill the zombie a lot faster than if it were just the one mod or the other.

just to elaborate some more and throw what may seem like a stupid addition into the mix, we have the optional prefixes for weapons ( devestating, disabling, etc.) which denotes an additional attribute difference to the base weapon stats. however i am interested (apart from attaining an all encompassing list of possible prefixes) in seeing if anyone can categorise in order the second part of the prefix. the ones like home made, ordinary, things like that. i have in front of me as we speak
Dead Island: Riptide is out, and boy is it ever the game for loot hoarders. As an action RPG, much of the game consists of hunting down powerful weapons, equipping them, and using said weapons to dispatch, or really, bash the brains out of every zombie from end-to-end of the island.
A great place to get explosive mines is on the rooftop of the "Old Town Cinema" in Henderson. They will keep respawning in Chapter 13 -- so you can farm as many as desired. Once you have an explosive mine, go to the Ferry Station. Gather up a group of ten zombies, and jump on a car so they cannot attack you. Just keep shooting a gun to get their attention. Once ten zombies are in one spot, start killing them, but do not dismember them with bladed weapons; use only guns or blunt weapons so their bodies stay intact. Leave one zombie alive, and let it trigger the mine. The explosion must destroy ten bodies, but the bodies can be dead or alive. You can also plant the mine while the ten zombies are still moving, but the blast might not destroy all bodies. It is easier to kill them first.
Every facet of Dead Island Riptide is built around killing zombies. The vast array of customizable weapons are all just different animations and speeds of zombie murder. The skills you acquire (most of which are directly lifted from Dead Island) are all about how effectively and violently you re-dead the hordes. Death isn't even a big deal: Just dust yourself off, lose a percentage of your wealth and get back to the killing. Money is slightly less essential this time around as weapons in Riptide, blessedly, degrade more slowly.
I loved modding weapons with blueprints I found across the island; the novelty of a flaming shovel or electrified sledgehammer never really wore off. I just wish components were a bit rarer or less varied, because as it stands, it always felt random whether or not I had the components for a given mod.
